Heilsarmee Berlin-Mitte

After being so drunk yesterday, I woke up at 4am feeling extremely thirsty. Gulped down a bottle of disgusting tap water (it's nothing like tap water in SG!) and tried to go back to slp. But I couldn't. So I typed my evaluation form. Felt super hungry! Craved for Roti Prata supper :( Cooked a plate of oily eggs and sausages instead, and went to bed!! =X

Woke up at 11am, feeling so frustrated of having no internet connection. So I decided to ask my neighbours if they would share with me theirs while I pay them some money! Landlady told me that there were students living above us, so up I went, preparing my speech in my head. I stood in front of their door for a long time. Should I ring the bell, or not? It's Sunday and it's 11am, they might be still sleeping! If u don't ask, u'll not have internet! I struggled for 15 mins, placed my finger at the door bell for another 5 mins, and finally pushed it. The buzzer was so loud! But then it was silent. No one answered and so I went back. Wrote a letter in German telling of my situation, left my contact details, and placed it in their letterbox...

Since coming to Germany, I have not attended church service due to several reasons (or excuses). The biggest reason was that I didn't have the courage to step into a church of German people, afraid of being judged, afraid of being the odd one amongst them. As I was planning my week earlier on, I wrote down "attend church" on my calendar, making it a point to visit one this time. And so I did.

I knew there was a Salvation Army Corps in Berlin Central, near my workplace and services are held at 5pm on Sundays. But I didn't know the address and the internet was not helping. At about 3pm, I was connected again! I have no idea what happened and whose unsecured internet connection am I using, but I thank God for that :D

Rode my bike and made it there at 4:50pm, just perhaps to mingle around with fellow christians. Met the major at the entrance and found out that the info on the website was wrong; service starts at 6pm. So I rode around the neighbourhood and ate subway since it was near dinner time.

Entrance :P

Went back at 5:50pm. The corps was extremely small with only about 20 members and 15 of them were old people. Met Steffi, Benni and Ralf. The corps officer was major Cornelia. Sang some hymns in German, heard some testimonies, listened to the sermon which was about "being a winner", prayed... Been a while since I attended service and I felt comfortable albeit being the only asian there. Steffi was a soldier and she was really friendly. Learned from her that Major Cornelia was leaving for England in a few weeks' time.. Had cakes and tea after that. Might meet them some time in the week! :)

As I made my way back, I saw many rollerbladers. Realised there was an event going on at Alexanderplatz. I'm in love with Berlin now, there's something on every time! :D

Tomorrow is monday again... Hope I survive the week! :P
