Christopher Street Day
**This post is not meant for the frail-hearted or the "intolerant"**
Woke up at 8:30am, washed laundry and packed room. Internet connection was still not available and so I read some articles and drafted my evaluation feedback form that I need to submit when I return to SG.
Met Elena at 1:45pm at Alexanderplatz and bought some snacks for Jose. The plan was to meet Jose and his friends at his place, have some drinks before heading out to Brandenburg Gate, where the parade is. But when we reached Jose's house, we were greeted by only Jose and Marija. Jose's brother and friends decided to sightsee in Berlin and join the parade later! They also backed out of dressing up for the parade. Pity! But Jose & Marija did and they were like models, always getting asked for pictures! haha!
Jose's place was big and pretty! It was an equivalent 5-room flat; the rooms were very spacious and brightly coloured. Hundreds of photos and collages everywhere, it really reveals their fun-loving spanish character and is really PRETTY! :D
Met Jose's brother and friends and waited at the Jewish memorial for the parade to come. The parade started at Kurfürstendamm and made its way to where we were. It took ages but finally arrived at about 4pm! We had to change location as they were not allowed to play loud music at the memorial. It was interesting to note how much respect they show to the jewish memorial. *nods in agreement*
To describe how the parade was, let the pictures speak for themselves:
You have to respect his bravery man
Click on pic for a clearer view
How can we forget Thailand :D
Didn't take his front view but he's super cute! =X
lol.
Showgirls
Paper fan reads: "Be gay" & I dunno what the guy in black is doing
SM. Lucky girls get a ride :O
Marija, Elena & I
Free lollipops! I like Elena's smile :))
Ok, pause for a while. I must say that the parade totally owned Changi V 1000 times. I have never seen so many trannies, lesbians and most of all, gays in my life! I know it may seem disgusting at first; I am also one of those who goes 'eeeee' or 'omg' whenever I see gays or trannies but on this day, at this parade, everyone has put aside their prejudices and these people walked the streets of Berlin proudly, celebrating and being confident of their identity. It's a cool thing to observe if u just think back in the past, how dictators deny these people of their rights, lock them up, try to reform them, just because they are... different.
Jose's friends left us shortly after the parade began and Elena left too at 6pm. I was left with Jose and Marija. Normally, in such situations, I would leave with Elena cos I didn't know them well and I'm a lightbulb. But I decided to stay.
Oh and I found out how people can tahan in such big parades when there are little or NO public toilet facilities set up. U can probably guess it but it's simply AMAZING how there is a constant stream of people going in and out of the 'forest'! =X
I think she's the hottest tranny of all!
Truckloads of hot bods. but ___.
Me and Marija! :)
Jose & Marija :D
I forgot to mention, we were supposed to party together with the spanish people and Jose came prepared for the party. One bottle of cocktail, two bottles of Sekt (Sparkling wine) which is traditionally drunk in this parade and one bottle of Vodka mixed with juice. We drank at increasing alcohol content and when we got to 25% of the Vodka, I was more or less drunk. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHZ5eXXfmxk LOL! The world was spinning, loud music from different trucks, people dancing all around us... Absolute FUN!!! :P
Took this right on the 2nd try. Nice! :D
The crowd: FUN!
New hairstyle. Nice? :D
Happy!
Marija dragged this from a truck & Jose had fun! :D
Ballooooooons!
Pretty women =X
Love his pout.
Displaying a bit of love
I could still take a pic right ok! :P
One of Berlin's icons: TV tower!
I saw this crazy guy climb up -.- wondered how he got down!
Wasn't thinking properly when I climbed up
The parade ended at about 9pm and we all headed home. Didn't remember much except that we walked a long long way to Alexanderplatz, where I took the U-Bahn home.
Was so hungry at home so I cooked maggi mee! And my landlady offered me the strawberry cake she baked! It was sooo yummy, I wanna learn it from her one day!
Salad, maggi, bockwurst and Strawberry cake!!! :D
The day was so so fun even though it's a festival I'm not supposed to be attending. I'm also very surprised that I actually stayed for the whole event! Nonetheless, I thank God for the time spent with Jose and Marija, my wonderful friends in Berlin! :D
