Italy Adventure day 4: Rome
Woke up quite late at 830am! (woke up at 730am the past few days) Today's plan was to visit the Vatican City! Walked to Termini station to buy bus tickets. The other gals bought Roma Pass instead which was a 3-day package to visit 2 museums in Rome and allows unlimited access to all public transports. HaoWen said we need not buy, can save a few euros. haha..

Gigantic tombs, poor lions
pretty room: different kings painted on pillars
Taking a break halfway through the 1st section

Gonna rain, no umbrella!
Inside the Cathedral
forgot the name of the square =X
Arrived at St Peter's Basilica first, which was so beautiful in the morning! Fine weather, lots of sunshine & tourists (including us)... The Vatican Museum closes earlier at 330pm, so we decided to go there first. The irritating thing was that the VM entrance was 15mins walk away even though it's right behind/beside SPB...
On our way to VM, we bought pizzas for €4 from the mobile foodstalls near SPB for brunch. As we walked further away, we saw stalls selling paninis (sandwiches) and pizzas for €3!!! Got cheated. Rarr. The pizza had ham, mushrooms & tomatos in it, was warmed up and was very nice at first bite. But I think cos of the Ketchup, the ham was moist, soft and sour. It was like eating raw meat cos i couldn't bite it off! Chewed a CHUNK of raw meat for like a min (I couldn't bring myself to swallow it, the smell was GROSS) and spat them out in the end. GROSSSSS..
After reaching Vatican Museum, we got our tickets and began to walk! There were 2 sections of the museum to see, our first section took us at least 1.5 hrs to finish walking!!! super big the place... The Sistine Chapel was especially famous for its Michaelangelo's painting, don't have its picture yet but.. Cos its on the ceiling so high up, I think it looks more impressive in print :P
Female clay statuette. LOL
The evil hippo: it was so cute & tiny! *roar*
After a long & tiring walk in Vatican Museum (Looking at paintings can be a draining task!), we went back to tour St Peter's Basilica! Bought a gelato on the way back. It was damn cheap! €1.30 for 2 scoops! Other places sell €2 for the smallest cup! Damn yummy.
Satisfied :D
Headed to St Peter's Basilica after that.. Met Pat, Rina, Mozi and Karen on the way into the church. Saw many tombs of popes and then went into the cathedral. As usual, huge and magnificent interior design.
As our day ended unexpectedly early, we decided to walk to see more places of attraction stated on the map. Walked along the bridge and enjoyed the pretty scenery of Rome.. The other gals left us halfway as they were tired.
After 30 mins, we finally reached the square! It also is the start of the 3 big streets, filled with shops. Took some pictures so that our walk was not in vain =X
Walked around in search of dinner. Found 'Spanish Steps' unknowingly.. The view of the street was nice from above.. Back to food, there were only restaurants that were quite ex! Finally found a shop selling many desserts and cheap sandwiches. Bought some and shared. They were SO YUMMY :D
