Italy Adventure day 3: Florence, Pisa, Rome
After the close encounter this morning (see previous post), we decided to take our luggages along with us after we checked out. Bought pizza at a bakery and went to Galleria dell Accademia to see Michaelangelo's statue of David. The gallery was not very big, saw ancient pianos, portraits, statues. The highlight of the museum was of course, David.
It was MAGNIFICENT. Bigger than what I would ever imagine. The statue is probably 2-3 storeys high? and it was really nicely sculpted. Too bad we couldn't take pics. We spent about 15 mins admiring David's butt. (cos there were seats there) haha. After looking at that statue, all other statues pale in comparison and were not as interesting alr :P
Next we went to see Il Duomo, some Enormous cathedral in Florence. It was really humongous. My camera could not take its whole picture at all. Nonetheless, the architecture was great, so detailed and intricate. U probably can't tell from the pics. haha :D

The baptistry, next to Duomo
After savouring our yummy-licious Gelato, we went to Piazza della Signoria to take a pic with one of the two fake 'David' inFlorence. To our dismay, it was covered up! The other 'David' was too far away so we didn't go find it. Passed by Uffizi Gallery, which houses many famous paintings (which i do not know of). Didn't go into the museum since we've gone to see David. One museum a day was our policy. haha..
Dunno what is the statue I'm taking with
I think this statue is nice: a young men defeating an old man
Ponte Vecchio
The Duomo
-_- lll

Il Duomo (only a fraction of it!)
The place was so big, I think we spent an hour visiting the 2 places! After that, we went to look for Gelato!!!!!! HaoWen found a famous shop in Florence, called "GROM", which was near the Duomo. As our online maps were incomplete, my Lonelyplanet came into use! The maps were more detailed despite it being published YRS ago. Finally found the inconspicuous GROM which did not look like a Gelato shop at all cos their gelato were all covered up. Thought it was kinda ex so Haowen and I shared a cup! It was SOO Delicious.

We then walked to Ponte Vecchio, which is the only bridge which survived Nazi bombings in WWII (travel guide). The sun was shining so brightly, it was so warm that I wished I was in T-shirt and shorts to soak up the sun! *sings 'I~ want to soak up the sun~'* =P
That was all of Florence we have seen in a day. At 2+pm, we took a train to Pisa. Cos the only attraction in Pisa was the tower, we spent 3 hrs there and headed to Rome, 4 hrs away :)
The tower was so pretty cos the weather was so good! Took normal pictures with the tower at first cos I thought it was so stupid and ridiculous as all other pple are sticking their hands out in the air, trying to touch the tower -.-lll
There was a Duomo beside Pisa Tower as well, we went in to look around. After walking around, I thought that since I was a tourist and dunno when I'll ever come back to Pisa again, I should take tourist-y shots with the Pisa tower!!! haha...
We were not tall enough to touch the tower but we found a flat surface we could stand on! Notice that the Pisa Tower at sunset is really pretty by the way. Here are my -_- tourist shots:
Went to the train station and left for Rome :)
In Rome, our hostel's location was good, about 5-8 mins walk from Termini station. Finally met up with the other HK/Chinese gals; we lived in a 6 room dorm that costs €8.50 per night! It was really nice cos all of us know each other and are living together! :D
Showered, chatted and went to bed at 1am. We're gonna conquer Rome the next 3 days! :D
