I'm blogging!
This is my first blog in my whole life. and yes. I do think it's silly to have a blog but i'm still doing it cos these five months to come will be AN EXPERIENCE. Something that I do not wanna forget in say, 2 years' time. (I have a short memory!) Places I've visited, weird encounters, food i've eaten, money i've spent... They will not be juz pictures on my laptop anymore. They shall be with life! and shared with my many frenz whom I miss (and who miss me too. eh dun deny, I noe you do. HAHA)
Anyways, to those who are still confused, I'm gone for a Student Exchange Program (SEP) at Koblenz Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management (yes the school name's that long, but in short, WHU) which is in a small town called Vallendar in Koblenz, Germany. This is my second trip to Germany. The first time was in June 2006 (World Cup!!) but I vaguely remember the happenings there alr. Good thing I was required to keep a diary that time, so I still recall... whatever I wrote in my diary. HA.
Well, my daisy helped me to set up this blog. So nice and sweet right? =) If you find the tune irritating, pls do not hesitate to press the 'X' sign on the address bar. hmmm the first entry is written by my daisy to me!! =)
Last day in Singapore
Daisy: Today we had a great time together. First we went to buy our breakfast and I was greedy so I bought alot of food! Then when we got home, I tried to sort the blog out but it didn't work! After which I fell asleep while the owner of the blog tried to book in online! A task which took so long because she could not decide on where to sit! haha. After which we went to shopping together and we bought 2 mouses and 2 webcams! =D! so happy cause with it I'll be seeing her almost everyday! Then we got home for dinner before she realised she still got some stuffs missing. So off we go shopping again. It was a brief one as she is rushing home to watch tv. At home we tried the webcam and mouse and they work perfectly well! After which I started to fix this blog again and it finally worked. The night is still young but she will be leaving me in less then 24hrs. I am feeling very gloomy now as I am afraid that i will not be able to cope with her absence. Ironically, I feel happy at the same time because it is a dream come true for her to stay at Germany. To my dearest: Take care of yourself, your daisy will not be there to nag you, irritate you. I will miss you so much and as the time ticks by the more I am saddened by it. However dont be affected by me and also I will take care of ur beloved zhu zhu :) I love you. Will miss you loads.
and I will miss u too :)
Arrival in Vallendar
Many pple came to send me off. There were my parents, my brother, my aunty, Daisy, Biru, Lurong, Matt, Melanie, ShiHui, Tammy, Ame Yeo, Kenneth, Coleman, Clarence, Clarissa and Jolene! So touched. I was quite flustered cos I had so many bags here and there and my frenz gave me stuff! so nice of them... Thank u alllll, even to those who called/sms-ed me!!! =)
After going in at 1:35pm (my flight was at 2:05pm), I called Christian. He was already there and said that the gate's closing soon! I remembered that they said the gate closes 10mins b4 departure, but hearing that, I walked quickly to my gate even though the back of my right shoe was brushing against the back of my feet (I pasted plaster on the other!). After settling down in my seat, I saw this disgusting patch of red on my shoe! =(
As Daisy had said, I spent a long time choosing my seat. Chose the window seat in the end, which was good cos i can hide my tears from the public! =X
On the 13.5hrs flight, I watched 5.25 movies, Mama mia!, Ghost Town, Lakeview Terrace, Wall-e, a german film called Der Freund, and 0.25 of Eagle Eye. This is probably my last contact with the tv for a looong time cos there's no tv in my hostel! The food on board was fine but they gave me beef for my dinner when i asked for fish! didnt change too cos I've always wanted to try eating beef steak. It's not very nice though cos inside it's still abit uncooked! and the knife was so sharp that i can't cut through the meat. Gave up eating. haha!
At Koblenz, we took a cab down to Vallendar... the cab was nice but expensive! 10 mins drive costed us 15.40 euros. To those who find SG taxi fare expensive, this meter jumps €0. 10 every 3 secs! really! no kidding, I counted! :P
At our destination, we unloaded the car. Christian and the taxi driver took the heavy luggages out of the boot while i tried to help by pulling the smaller luggage out from the back seat. Then...
(in german)
Taxi driver: Don't pull don't pull!
Me: (stunned)
TD: must lift the luggage...
Me: Oh..
(Taxi Driver examines seat and becomes angry)
TD: see! now the seat's kaputt (broken)
Me: Oh... sorry, i didn't noe...
TD: you're sorry you're sorry. The seat's alr kaputt! Verdammter *something* Mensch (Damn ... people - he spoke too fast, couldn't catch what he said)
(Taxi Driver slams the door and drives off)
So scary.. but i think i'd do the same in SG leh... but i think cos their seats are better leather and has more friction, so the luggage kinda scratched it, leaving white marks. (No, I didn't make the seats Kaputt!) Anw, thank God the driver didn't ask for compensation, though he scolded and scolded, maybe hoping for some!
1130pm, standing outside Guesthouse Schumann, the lights were all out and it was freezing cold. Good thing Mrs Schumann woke up and helped us to open the door. Our rooms are on the 3rd storey, the highest storey. Good thing there's Christian, otherwise i'll spend 15 mins trying to hull my 31kg luggage up the stairs! My room no. is 23 while Christian lived in no. 25. This is my room! Big and nice. =) But dun see so nice, actually it's very cold when i first reached cos the heater wasn't turned on yet! haha
While unpacking, it suddenly struck me that i'll be living in this place for 4 mths. Seems so long even though i always say that 4 mths will pass very quickly. My 40 kg worth of clothes and stuff suddenly seem so little...
Took a shower reluctantly at 130am. FREAKING COLD! the thing is, my hands and feet were very cold and i couldnt gauge the temperature of the water... so when my hands were burning with warm water, my body felt that the water was too cold. so i adjusted and adjusted and adjusted. Think i spent 5 mins before finding a temperature i could bathe in! haha..
ok, that's all for day 1 in Germany. Read again for updates! =)
